The Lost Brothers

ABOUT

The Lost Brothers by Jack El-Hai (available on Amazon.com) is a story of one of the United States’ longest unsolved missing children’s case. Three brothers went missing in Minneapolis in 1951 and this true crime story documents the family’s struggles and personal insight.

I was contracted to provide a map to re-create the scene of Minneapolis in 1951, highlighting the area where the boys disappeared and landmarks in the search that followed. A request of the publisher was to re-create the map in a nostalgic 1950s noir theme. I re-digitized the street network from 1950s Minneapolis, recreated the map in half-tone, and chose typography to symbolize the era.
